Chelmsford College has been using Pathways for the past 3 years. They have seen it develop from the original version of Pathways One to the full suite of tools it is today.
They were initially keen to use Pathways as they were looking for a way to promote their course pages on their website by linking them to careers and showing up-to-date labour market information. Before using Pathways they had no realistic way of doing this, as other options were either too time consuming or too expensive. The Pathways One tool filled this gap and is now embedded on all curriculum subject pages throughout the College website.
Embracing new ways to engage in careers
Having started using Pathways One, the College were keen to see how the new tools that have been added to Pathways over the last couple of years, could also help the college with a more careers focussed approach. They now have a dedicated page on their website for Pathways Explore and have added Retrain to their part-time/adult skills page.
Career sessions
As well as using the embed tools, the College Careers team use Pathways Solo on their iPads during open evenings and school visits as well as 1-2-1 careers advice sessions with current students. The careers team are so taken with Pathways that they have recently asked for it to be embedded on the College intranet so that current students have easy access to the tools.
Using Pathways careers data
The marketing team have also used the infographics tool on a number of occasions including a social media campaign to highlight specific industries and also in their prospectus to inform prospective students of careers and salaries related to subjects.
Accreditation
Pathways has now become an integral part of the College’s CIAG activities and contributes to their Matrix accreditation process and helps fulfil some of the criteria set out by the government’s Gatsby benchmarks.
